CUTTING MAT. It is paramount to work on a smooth, flat surface when cutting, trimming, and assembling hydrocal castings. The mat we use is made of self healing plastic (knife cuts repair themselves instead of leaving souvenir scars on your table) and is green in color with very nice grid lines printed on one side. These lines are extra useful in gluing up walls because they can be matched to wall corners in order to keep them square. We've found our 8 1/2 inch mat to be perfectly adequate in size, though the larger 11 1/2 inch mat is suitable for larger jobs.
